This section provides an overview of the discussion around virtual worlds and reality in education and research which took place at the Euroversity workshop at the University of Pisa, Italy in the last week of the project. In other words, this is where we are at in our thinking at the end of our project.

The following is a list of questions and issues which were captured in some of the discussions during the workshop and are included here as prompts for future debate and research.

1) What is reality?

2) What is the relationship between perception and reality?

3) What is the relationship between learning and our perception of reality?

4) How can neuroscience research into virtual reality help us understand learning?

5) Can we, should we distinguish between reality, augmented reality and virtual reality?

6) Are virtual worlds an expression of reality?

7) Are virtual worlds representational? If so, how can the representational dimension support learning?

8) What is the relationship between our emotions, reality and the perception of reality on the one hand and learning on the other?
